Sheffield Limestone

Sheffield Limestone is an excellent choice for interior and exterior applications. Because of its excellent properties and performance, and warm color, architects repeatedly specify this natural limestone for interior stone flooring, exterior paving stone, stone treads and risers, fireplace surrounds and stone wall cladding. Sheffield Limestone is available in honed, smooth sanded, bush hammered and sandblasted finishes. It is also available in vein-cut form for certain applications.  See sample range here.

  • Finish poster
    Honed Finish

An extremely smooth, eggshell finish. Achieved with the use of fine diamonds.

  • Finish poster
    Smooth Sanded Finish

More dull and rough than honed with subtle machining marks.

  • Finish poster
    SandBlasted Finish

Lighter in appearance with slight relief. (Note this sample is Sheffield Vein Cut)

  • Finish poster
    BushHammered Finish

Small, round marks give this a dotted appearance with light relief.

Weathering Characteristics

interior, exterior

Dolomitic limestone with dark brown ‘cloud’ markings that can be used for many interior and exterior applications. Low absorption. Hard, dense and durable. Naturally occurring, small holes are visible. Like all limestones, Sheffield is affected by acids. No detrimental effects on the environment. Large piece sizes are available.
